Amazon changes access for Amazon Drive and Photos

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Amazon is continuing the migration away from Amazon Drive to Amazon Photos. As previously announced, Amazon notified customers it is dropping support for Amazon Drive for file backups but going to “fully focus” efforts on photo and video storage. The service will end Dec. 31, 2023.

Recently, the service notified users they can access their Amazon Drive content via Amazon Photos:

Dear Amazon Drive Customer,

You can now access and download your Amazon Drive folders and files (including non-photo and non-video content) through the Amazon Photos website.

Your existing Amazon Drive folder structure has been retained and is now visible on the Amazon Photos website. Your Amazon Drive files will continue to be available through Amazon Photos after December 31, 2023 when Amazon Drive access is removed.

We recommend customers use the Amazon Photos website to manage Amazon Drive files moving forward. To access your files, please visit amazon.com/photos. There is no additional action needed to access your files in Amazon Photos.

If you plan to use Amazon Photos moving forward, do not delete any files from your Amazon Drive account. While Amazon Drive and Amazon Photos are separate services, your files can be accessed and managed via either service. This includes all photo and video files whether they are uploaded to Amazon Drive or Amazon Photos. For example, if you delete a folder or file on Amazon Drive, the deleted folder or file will not be available through Amazon Drive or Amazon Photos.

After December 31, 2023, you will no longer be able to access files through the Amazon Drive website or Amazon Drive mobile apps on iOS and Android.

Thank you for being an Amazon customer.
